If there’s one think I was jealous over, it was the old XPreview Greasemonkey userscript and the equivalent feature in the XKit Greasemonkey userscript. I contacted the script’s author, Atesh Yurdakul, some time ago to check if I could implement my own version of XPreview. With his blessing, something similar will now be part of the next version of Missing e.
What does it do?
Many of us have been in this position. A while ago, you posted a photo on Tumblr. Maybe it had a recognizable caption, maybe it didn’t. However, when a notification shows up on your dash letting you know that someone has liked, reblogged or replied to it, you’ve forgotten what photo it is!
You could click on the link to open the post’s permalink page… or, better yet, use the Missing e photo post notification preview that will be part of the Dashboard Tweaks feature. Simply hover your mouse over the “photo” link in the notification, and a thumbnail-sized preview of the photo shows up (or the first two photos, if it’s a photoset).
Nominate Missing e for a social media award in the Shorty Awards!
